At the wood-energy symposium at La Défense on July 3, 2012, the French Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy declared that the wood-energy sector “is strategic for France, strategic for its energy autonomy, but also strategic for limiting our fellow citizens’ energy budgets and for creating jobs“. The Minister’s aim is “to make it a major energy source in the French energy mix“. And she is “personally committed to ensuring that the tools are in place for the sustainable development of this energy“.

For his part, the President of the Syndicat des Energies Renouvelables underlined that wood-energy is a precious energy, “because it constitutes a powerful antidote in the fight against trade deficits, replacing imports of fossil fuels“.
