Kyotherm signs an Energy Performance Contract of 15 GWh/year for an industrial site

In October 2017, Kyotherm and its partner Schneider Electric signed a contract to install variable speed drives at an iron and steel plant located in Fos-sur-Mer, France. The drives will regulate the power consumption of a set of electric motors (for pumping, ventilation, dust removal) which have a total power of 11 MW. The estimated energy savings (approximately 15 GWh/year) will finance the initial investment. They will also, from the industrialist’s point of view, generate cost savings from the first year on, through a “deconsolidating” financing arrangement.

The energy savings are equivalent to the production of a 12 MW photovoltaic installation, or that of an 8 MW wind farm, with the advantages of a small land incidence (a few m3) and of a stable rate in terms of power savings.
